New MRH Seed to Table logo. With the coming of longer days, baseball, and beautiful weather, we are excited to announce our Seed to Table program has a new logo.

We will use it to promote any farm to school activities and events, like showcasing locally-grown produce in the cafeterias and our current collaborations with The Blue Duck restaurant in Maplewood. The program has been active for a number of years now, but recently, with the help of the Missouri Coalition for the Environment, the district purchased locally grown produce from four farms that we recently partnered with. These purchases include apples, squash, tomatoes, and potatoes.

While the benefits of the Seed to Table program are numerous, we hope to especially emphasize the health benefits eating this produce bring our students, the economic benefit it brings our neighbors, and the environmental benefits it brings our world.

As famed author Virginia Woolf wrote, “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well”,
and the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District is dedicated to be providing food that nourishes our students in a holistic manner.

Within the coming months, we will be posting more about the specific produce that is being used, where it comes from, and the people who are behind growing it. For now, further information about the many benefits of Seed to Table can be found on The Missouri Coalition for the Environment’s website at www.moenvironment.org
