For the third year in a row, the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District has scored higher than in the previous year on the Annual Performance Report from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). The MRH grade was 98.4% for 2017-2018, up from 97.5% in the prior academic year and 96.1% before that.

Boosting MRH’s score again this year was the district’s practice of administering the ACT test universally, 
and its increased offering of dual credit and college-level courses. The average composite ACT score for MRH 11th graders was 22.5%.
In the math/language arts/social studies category, MRH students earned 38.7 of the 40 points possible on the scale. In the category known as “subgroup achievement” (English language learners, students who qualify for reduced lunch prices, others) students racked up 9.4 of the 10 points possible. Perfect scores were issued for college and career readiness, attendance, and graduation rate.

More than 413,000 third- through eighth-grade students and an additional 175,000 high school students in Missouri participated in the testing program, resulting in more than a million assessments. The release of the state’s 2017-18 APRs, which contain Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) test results, would normally have been released last November, but were delayed by DESE making some key determinations about how to score the tests. Tumult at the state board of education under former Governor Eric Greitens also contributed to the delay.
Because of those changes in learning standards, completely new assessments in English language arts and math were administered in 2017-18; therefore, the results are not comparable with results from previous tests in those subjects.
A field test was given during the 2017-18 school year for science, so schools did not receive official MAP scores, nor was science reflected in calculations for the 2017-18 APR scores. New science assessments will be administered during the 2018-19 school year.
This is the sixth year of Annual Performance Reports released for the Missouri School Improvement Program 5 (MSIP 5). Key goals of the plan are:
