Dear MRH families,
As we continue to monitor data and regional guidance as a means to provide in-person learning to students for the 2021-2022 school year, we know that there will be a need to pivot, at any time, due to COVID-19. These changes are necessary to ensure that our students may continue to benefit from in-person instruction. Because transparency is important, especially during these times, I want to share with you that the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District Board of Education on Thursday, September 2, approved several key steps toward further supporting our efforts of providing in-person learning. MRH will:
- require all employees and District on-site partners to be vaccinated by October 10, 2021 or undergo weekly testing.
- reinstate the temporary COVID-19 leave (up to 10 days) for vaccinated staff.
- enforce the MRH universal mitigation measures.
The District continues to carefully monitor the recent surge of the Delta variant of COVID-19 and has determined we must implement all resources available to protect the health and safety of our students and staff. With the inability to vaccinate students under the age of 12 and considering the impact of the Delta variant on children, it is critical that MRH remains diligent about mitigation measures in place as a means to ensure a continuation of in-person learning for all students. Widespread vaccination is a critical tool in stopping the spread of COVID-19 and MRH is committed to doing its part.
Yours in good health,
Bonita E. Jamison, Ed.D. | Superintendent
