MRH families,

Every school year, within the second semester, Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) testing is administered throughout the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District. The results are used to strategically tailor our curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of our students.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has set guidelines for required assessments this year, which include in-person testing for all students in grades 3-8 and for End of Course (EOC) exams at the high school levels. As you may recall, MAP and EOC testing were suspended in 2020. Therefore, the assessment data currently available is now two years old. The resumption of testing this spring presents an opportunity to capture an accurate picture of where students stand. Additionally, DESE intends to release individual student scores to parents. The results will not affect students’ grades or their permanent records.

All virtual students are included in the guidelines, which means in-person, proctored testing opportunities will be made available. In the next few weeks, building leaders will be contacting families of virtual learners with options for when their students may come to school to test if they are in a grade or class that requires testing. MAP and EOC tests are required by state and federal law. With your cooperation, we can maintain the levels of student participation and performance required to preserve the District’s accreditation.

We will continue to follow the safety measures included within our Return to Learning Family Handbook to keep students as safe as possible.

  • All students and staff will be required to wear a mask while at school and testing.

  • Hand sanitizer will be on hand for student and staff use.

  • Appropriate distancing measures will be in place in the testing environment.

The purposes of the MRH Assessment Plan are:

  • To provide information about what the students currently know and what they are able to achieve so that parents, students and teachers can successfully monitor academic progress

  • To be used as a tool for planning additional educational experiences and to provide data to assist in planning instructional programs

  • To provide indicators of progress towards specific District goals

  • Finally, to measure student progress toward achieving state and federal goals

Maplewood Richmond Heights School District complies with all assessment requirements for students with disabilities as mandated by state law.

Thank you for your continued flexibility and understanding as we work together to do our very best for all students.
