The tradition just keeps growing.
The 2018 Soul Food Supper in the Maplewood Richmond Heights High School cafeteria drew a record crowd. Each year, during Black History Month, MRH hosts the dinner at which student and staff volunteers cook and serve traditional style soul food to the community.
A menu of fried chicken, black-eyed peas, collard greens, mashed potatoes, candied yams, corn bread, macaroni and cheese, ham and beans, peach pie and more was served.
This will be the final year of employment at MRH for lead Soul Food Supper organizer Claudette Howell, who is retiring after two decades of service.
